🥋 Celebrating a Milestone, Honoring God, my parents and my wife🌟
As I stand here, adorned with the symbol of dedication and perseverance – my Gracie Jiu Jitsu Black Belt – I can’t help but feel a whirlwind of emotions. This achievement represents not just the countless hours of training, sweat, and discipline, but also the unwavering support and love of those who have been by my side.
Three days before flying out to test for my Gracie Jiu-Jitsu black belt, I lost my mom, nearly 3 years after I lost my dad. It was a devastating blow, and the grief threatened to consume me. Yet, amidst the pain, I remembered scripture, and I was reminded of my parents words of encouragement, reminding me of the strength they instilled in me, and the day they sent me to Martial arts, which my mum drove me to at 8 years old, to help me develop the skills I needed to defend myself at school from my bullies.
Throughout my journey, my parents were supportive of my learning martial arts. They believed in me even when I doubted myself, and their absence is felt deeply as I celebrate this milestone. Yet, I know they would be proud of the resilience and determination that carried me through.
To my mum and dad, who taught me the importance of perseverance and the value of hard work, this Gracie Jiu-Jitsu black belt is as much yours as it is mine. Every strike, takedown submission etc was fueled by your love and memory.
To my wife, thank you for always being there for me. I feel like you’ve shared so many training sessions with me, and dealt with my ups and downs after getting off the mat. No matter how frustrated I’d get, you always had my back. From white belt to black belt! ❤️
Today, as I don this black belt, I honor not only my achievement but also the legacy of love and support that continues to inspire me. Thank you to everyone who has been a part of this journey, especially to my parents whose presence will always be felt in every step I take.
